How the world's largest solar power plant works
More and more countries of the world are beginning to use alternative energy sources, including solar. Therefore, modest rooftop panels are being replaced by "solar farms" spread over vast areas. So, the fourth-largest solar power plant in the world, Benban Solar Park is located in Egypt, covers an area of 37 square kilometers, and generates a capacity of 1,650 MW. In third place is Shakti Sthala, located in the city of Pavagada in India. Its area is 50 square kilometers and has a capacity of about 2000 MW. The second is the Chinese Hainan Solar Park. It consists of 672 photovoltaic arrays and produces 2,200 MW. What is the largest solar power plant in the world and how is it arranged? Watch in our video!

How the world's largest concentrated solar power project works
Modern technologies create opportunities for any state to switch to renewable sources of cheap energy from water, wind, or the sun.

New Chinese solar power plant worth $430 million
Today, solar energy is the most promising area for generating electricity.
The only serious drawback is the inability to operate solar power plants at night. And while scientists from all over the world are looking for innovative ways to solve this issue, the Shouhang Chinese company has found an original way out. The new solar power plant, worth $430 million with a capacity of 100 MWp, operates around the clock without power losses.
But how exactly were they able to achieve this? French designers in 1968 completed the construction of the Odeilia solar oven - the largest complex at that time. Located in the south of France, the complex consists of a large mirror 54 meters high and 48 meters wide. Mirrors placed around it capture sunlight and redirect it to a mirror, which concentrates them...

But for this to happen, of course, efforts must be made and several large-scale reforms and projects implemented, as was done, for instance, in Morocco. How did this country manage to build the largest concentrated solar power plant that generates electricity even at night?
And what has enabled Morocco, which has meager oil and gas reserves, to become the largest energy importer in the Middle East and North Africa?
Check out our video! Morocco is the only country in North Africa that does not have its own fossil fuel reserves and imports more than 90% of its energy resources. Attempts to develop the industry led to electricity consumption increasing by 5.6% per year, and there is nowhere to take it within the country. The government spends billions of dollars importing fuel.
To rid the state of energy dependence, King Mohammed VI set a goal: To generate 52% of electricity needs using green energy by 2030.
But how will it be achieved? Hydro resources in Morocco are bad; most of the rivers dry up, and reservoirs built in the 1960s provide the population with drinking water, but their energy resource is limited. In 2008 the authorities adopted the New Energy Strategy.

Started in July 2020, the project was undertaken by the joint venture formed by three Chinese enterprises, which were mainly responsible for installing photovoltaic brackets and components, as well as building step-up substations and grid connection stations.
Thanks to technological innovation, Chinese companies also managed to expand the plant's electricity generation capacity by 20 percent by using automated robotic arms to clean the panels.
